Welcome back to Generation Girl!

We’d like to thank you for joining us as a Generation Girl’s Holiday Club Advisor. Welcome back to the #geng! 🤗
Holiday Club is a program that introduces STEM to young girls and delivers a fun-filled week of learning and unique empowerment events. We hope that through the Holiday Club, the girls will be inspired to become the next generation of female leaders 👩‍💻👩‍🏫👩‍🔬👩‍🔧
Let’s jump right into it! 🌞

👩🏻‍💻 What's Your Role?

As Advisors, you will guide & supervise the Mentors and TAs to be SUPER 📃 All the classes have existing curriculums, mentors are allowed to modify (or leave them be) as they see fit! 😆

💚 Your responsibilities:

🚀 Assist on Mentor Onboarding & Training

Help get our new Mentors up to speed! You'll guide them through onboarding and training, making sure they feel confident and ready to tackle anything.

🌟 Leading the Workshop and Weekly Meetings

In order to make the Mentors and TAs confident with their materials, you - Advisors will have to lead the workshops and prep meetings with the Mentors. During the prep meetings, you will:
  • Guide and give some advice to them.
  • Discuss with the Mentors regarding the projects and tasks for the Rookies
  • Remind the Mentors regarding their deadlines and to-dos

👀 Supervise & Assess Mentors’ Performance

Be a supportive coach for our Mentors. Observe their sessions, offer feedback, and celebrate their wins! You'll help them grow and become SUPER Mentors.

🗓️ Mark Your Calendar!

Before the Holiday Club start we usually provide the Mentors and TAs with workshops, and this time you will lead the workshops and weekly meetings.
Make sure to block your calendar so you don’t miss out 📆

🗣️ Workshop 101

We want to make sure that the Mentors and TAs feel confident and ready to lead the club, so you are responsible to lead these 2 workshops:

🛫 Onboarding Workshop

Where we get to know about each of the Mentors and TAs better, let them know what Holiday Club is, and what to expect during D-day
Before the onboarding session, we will share the Mentor Handbook to all chosen mentors. In the onboarding session, we will expect them to have read the mentor handbook & treat them like rookies! The goal is to familiarize even first-time mentors so that they understand the flipped classroom approach.

Prep Meetings:

Besides the Workshops, we will also provide the Mentors and TAs with weekly meetings to keep us updated with their progress and guide them for the day-by-day lesson plan, also to make sure that Mentors and TAs store all the final lesson plan and resources needed before class. To make it easier for all of us to observe, we will provide you with a link where you can write down or take notes about anything during the meeting so we can check it anytime!
  1. Don't forget to encourage the Mentors so they will have more confidence!
  1. Ask the Mentor what they want to achieve and tell them what we expect them to achieve from the Holiday Club
  1. Don't hesitate to share your past experience with future Mentors!
  1. Emphasize to the Mentors to follow every deadline we have, since we want to be stricter than in the past, so it's easier for you as well!
  1. Let the Mentors know the expectation of the Rookies, so they can have the big picture on how to deliver the materials
  1. Explain to the Mentors what would happen each day and how to overcome it
